Verizon Leaves Wilmington at the Alter

It looks as if Verizon has decided not to give the City of Wilmington a prenuptial agreement after all. The City of Wilmington was pushing for guarantees that Verizon would not divorce the City and assurances that Verizon would pour all his heart and soul into Wilmington.

Wilmington, when contacted right after the jilting said “They treated Washington DC much better in their previous marriage!”. Wilmington also claims Verizon poured all they had into their relationships with both Montgomery County and Anne Arundel County in Maryland. “So what about me!” cried the City.

Verizon, according to people who know him, responded to these allegations with a curt, “Well Wilmington aint DC. She certainly is not all that! Montgomery and Anne Arundel are nicely packed”.

So Wilmington is stuck in its dysfunctional relationship with Comcast. “I was surprised she did not make a better offer to Verizon after all the bad stuff she said about how I treat her. I guess she just likes the rough treatment after all” said a very self satisfied Comcast.

The real story is this. Wilmington asked for more than Verizon was willing to give to get a City franchise for cable and internet service. Wilmington is complaining that Verizon has made the promises the City was seeking to other jurisdictions. The awful truth of the matter is that Wilmington will just not bring in the money that Anne Arundel County did for Verizon. So it is back to the drawing board. And in the mean time, City residents will just be stuck with only one cable choice.
