Starbucks to Close 300 Stores – 200 in USA

When contacted about closures in Delaware we were informed that those specific details had not been decided…

Starbucks has been looking at all parts of the business to manage our cost structure. As part of our ongoing, rigorous evaluation of its global store portfolio, today Starbucks announced that we are planning to close approximately 300 additional under-performing company-operated stores in the U.S. and international markets. Approximately 200 of those stores are in the U.S. with the remainder in international markets. The store closure list is being finalized and will be available after impacted partners have been notified.

Though these strategies are what we believe to be the right approach to ensure the long-term strength of our business in the face of these tough economic conditions, we realize the impact they will have on so many members of the Starbucks family who have directly contributed to our success over the years. This underscores the difficulty of these decisions.

Though we do know our Delaware/Northeast region will be impacted, we do not at this time have specific details about numbers of or locations of stores that will be impacted by these announcements.
