First State Innovation (FSI)

Good news for all Delaware Entrepreneurs.

    Accelerating Delaware's Entrepreneurial Economy

Let me introduce you to a recently established resource called First State Innovation (FSI).

FSI’s goal is to increase Delaware’s entrepreneurial capacity by growing, attracting, retaining and connecting high growth technology-based businesses and supporting infrastructure in the state. How do they plan to do this? By developing programs concerned with Investment, Commercialization, Workforce Development and Education, such as:

      • Research, prepare, and distribute reports profiling Delaware’s economy and comparing such to that of other regions, including statistics on wages, venture capital availability and expenditure, graduate retention, technological capacity
      • Establish curriculum for training and mentoring programs for entrepreneurs and other business entities (work w/ETC)
      • Create a Delaware-focused Angel Fund ($5 Million Initial offering)
      • Work closely with the Delaware Congressional Delegation to maximize Federal funding efforts
      • Develop effective integration with the K12 environment by leveraging the Vision 2015 initiative
      • Work with the private sector, local government, and other organizations (including Foundations) to increase the amount of, and accessibility to, venture capital for startup and/or struggling technology and technology-related businesses

I don’t know about you, but that sounds great to me.
