Delaware Tech Instructors Chosen to Attend 2012 National SEET Technology Workshop

Delaware Technical Community College is pleased to announce two of the College’s instructors, Mary Marchegiano-Nolker and Bill Beauchamp, have been selected to attend the 2012 Sustainable Energy Education and Training (SEET) Workshop in Golden Colorado. Each year only 25 instructors are chosen nationwide to serve as content experts to share knowledge about research advances in energy technology, the implications for a sustainable energy future, and the current and potential requirements for technicians. Following the workshop, which runs from June 10 – June 22, instructors continue to be connected and supported by an active online network and workshop follow-up support. They will also serve as facilitators of workshops to teach additional technology educators in their home communities.

Marchegiano-Nolker is the department chairperson for Energy Management and Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology at the Stanton/Wilmington Campus. She has been with the College for 28 years. Beauchamp is an instructor for the Energy Management program at the College’s Owens Campus in Georgetown and has been at Delaware Tech for 16 years.

Current high school and two-year college energy technology instructors from across the U.S. are invited to apply each year. The 25 who are selected receive a stipend to assist with the completion of workshop activities. Most expenses are covered for participants by the grant that supports the workshop.

The primary goal of the SEET Technology Workshop project is to build the capacity of energy technicians to meet the challenges of sustainable energy in the 21st century workplace. The 2012 workshop will focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and will provide hands-on, inquiry-based lab experiences; take-home equipment and training; and site visits and field work assisted by partners of the hosting institutions.

The SEET project was developed by the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center.
