COMENITY BANK TRIPLES ANNUAL GRANT FUNDING AND SUPPORT TO WILMINGTON AREA NON-PROFITS

Comenity Bank, a wholly owned bank subsidiary of Alliance Data Retail Services, which manages more than 100 credit programs for some of today’s best-known brands, announced today that it is contributing approximately $325,000 through the end of 2012 to select non-profit organizations in the Wilmington area—more than tripling its 2011 financial support to continue helping to improve the Wilmington community through development grants. Comenity, formerly known as World Financial Network Bank (WFNB), will continue its legacy of community support by focusing on organizations that have demonstrated measurable results in the areas of improving financial literacy, affordable housing, small business development, and job training in the greater Wilmington area.

In addition to allocating funds to local non-profit organizations, Comenity employees help to create multifaceted partnerships with these non-profits by actively giving of their time through opportunities that positively impact the immediate community such as: financial literacy educational initiatives, board committee participation, and participation in special events that have positively impacted the development of the Wilmington community.

“Partnering with Comenity for a second year will greatly help further our mission of creating, managing and promoting a high-quality environment for people who live, work and visit historic downtown Wilmington,” said Martin Hageman, executive director of Downtown Visions, a Comenity grant recipient. “Through this grant, more small businesses in our downtown area will have the opportunity to refurbish their often-deteriorating storefronts—an effort that began in 2011 and will continue to benefit local businesses and residents for many years to come.”

“Our community partners are truly making a difference in quality of life for many in the greater Wilmington area, and that’s extremely gratifying for our organization. Comenity has a long-standing commitment to support the communities in which we live and work—it’s part of our DNA as an organization,” said Jay Coane, vice president and chief financial officer of Comenity Bank. “We’re fortunate to be in a position that has allowed us to increase our grant contributions by more than 300 percent over last year, and even more thrilled to witness how intelligently these beneficiary organizations put our funds to the best use to positively impact the quality of life for Wilmington and New Castle County residents, improve the local economy, and create a better society for future generations.”

Connections that Countˢ ͫ is Comenity’s brand promise to its cardholder customers, created with the goal of bringing them together with the brands they love, along with the company’s award-winning customer care. A member of the Alliance Data family, Comenity delivers customer-oriented tools and information that help ensure a positive shopping experience every time customers use their accounts.
