Did you know that SCORE offers low-cost business training workshops for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. For new businesses we offer our start-up series of 3 workshops given monthly that cover the basic information you need to start a business including how to write a business plan that will satisfy the expectations of lenders? This workshop is a PowerPoint presentation, given by counselors experienced in each of the areas discussed and will give you a clearer understanding of what is required to start a business and be successful. Key topics covered include:

– What licenses and registrations are required?
– What tax issues do I need to address?
– Why is a business plan so important?
– Why is cash flow so important to a small business?
– What’s the best way to get into business? Start from scratch? Franchise? Acquire one?

Every business needs a business plan. This two-session workshop covers the preparation of a business plan including the overall strategy, market planning, and the financial projections required by lenders. An experienced SCORE leader will get you started on your plan. A workbook is included. It is envisioned that you will request a SCORE counselor to assist you in the completion of the plan.
