The University of Delaware Business Plan Competition (BPC)

Are you a UD student with creative business ideas, entrepreneurial skills, practical solutions to challenges, awareness of markets and the ability to pull all the pieces together in a comprehensive plan? Would you like to turn your business idea with growth potential into some cash? If you answered “yes” to these questions then you may like to know that The University of Delaware Business Plan competition is now under way!

The BPC was created to find new venture ideas and build successful businesses, as well as to provide education and networking opportunities for students. It is a process for students to turn great ideas into great businesses. The Competition encourages participants to take an idea from the concept phase to a full business plan, and create the opportunity to build a new venture. The process is designed for students at the University of Delaware.

Students from all disciplines are invited to participate. Faculty and staff may compete also, provided that at least one student is actively participating on the business plan team.

Here’s a rundown on the tentative competition schedule:

December 1, 2008 : Submission of three-page business overview.

December 2008-February 2009 : Business Plan Workshops

March 6, 2009 : Formal Business plan due

April 6 2009 : Announcement of Finalists

April 23, 2009 : Final Round of Competition

April24, 2008 : Awards and President’s Forum on Entrepreneurship.

Visit the UD Entrepreneurial Studies website for more details on the competition or email the professor of business and economics, Scott Jones.
