People use PayPal because it is convenient and easy.
Wasn’t it just a matter of time until Google made a move to get in on the action?
Looks like we could be in for some good old fashioned capitalist competition between Google and eBay. And why not? It’s what helps make good ideas better and sometimes less expensive too.
I came across the reference to this story in Dane Carlson’s Business Opportunities Weblog. I happen to agree with his assessment- this could be a great thing for ecommerce.

Yahoo also seems to want in on some of this action, from what I see of a patent application made public by them last week, which focuses on “Systems and methods for implementing person-to-person money exchange.”
I like the description of the Yahoo system, which is an attempt to limit the amount of confidential information that is being passed around ton the web.
