      Russ:
The State Economic Development Office recently stated that we have plenty of one person women entrepreneurs, but what we have trouble with is growing those companies.

I wonder that they do not have a specific target in this area.

      Russell,
I just ran accross an article in the Wall Street Journal Online that offers tips for women who are starting businesses. And, of course, it applies to anyone starting a business and echos what you have been preaching here on your blog.

      Tips for women starting businesses.
The number of women-owned firms increased nearly 20% between 1997 and 2002, compared with a 10% increase in the number of all U.S. firms during the same period, according to a eport from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

WHAT TO DO: Check out the SBA’s online women’s business center or visit the Web site of the National Women’s Business Council for resources that can help you launch a new business. Read about angel funding for tactics on approaching investors and lending programs that offer aid to aspiring female entrepreneurs. Find out why few women invest in franchises because of a lack of capital and see which male-dominated industries are starting to attract more women. See tips for mothers with young children on how to make a home-based business work. Read about a mother-and-daughter-owned venture and how two women launched a company that teaches golf to women, overcoming the challenges of entering an industry that wasn’t very welcoming to women. -By Sarah E.
